In Salerno War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 3607757 Private Thomas Kitchener Vitty serving with the 5th Battalion the Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment) who died 24/09/1943.

Thomas Kitchener Vitty the son of Robert Stephenson and Margaret Hannah Vitty (nee Coulthard) of Tow Law was born in 1914.

In WW2 he joined the Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment) 5th Battalion. He died 24th Septembers 1945 aged 29 and is buried in the Salerno War Cemetery, Italy.

Thomas' uncle John Vitty had died in WW1.
