Maskell, W., 1914-18
The Auckland & County Chronicle 16/10/1919 reports:

“Mr. and Mrs. Maskell and family, of Mowbray House, Crook, had the joy of welcoming their fourth soldier son, William, of the Royal Engineers, on Saturday morning from Russia. The returned soldier expresses himself as much in sympathy with the Russian peasantry, who have endured untold hardships and cruelty at the hands of the Bolsheviks.”
