Amos Johnson

Amos Johnson was born in May, 1886.

His service number was 167104, and he had attested under the Lord Derby scheme. When he attested he stated his age was 29 years and 7 months, [born 1886 approx.], however, his Z.11 Army form [Identity and Protection certificate states 1876?]. He attested at Bishop Auckland on the 9th December 1915, but did not enlist until the 8th June 1916, into the Royal Garrison Artillery.

Amos's trade was a game keeper.

He was posted initially to Ripon with the 4th Depot, (Heavy and Siege) Royal artillery regiment for his training.

He was posted to India on the 27th August 1916 into the 82nd Company which was part of the 3rd (Lahore) Division which was based at Ferozepore.

Amos resided at Snodberry Kilhope, Durham.
