In St.James's Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1112663 Sgt. Thomas Henry Jackson, serving as an airgunner with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 12/02/1943.

Sgt. Jackson was serving with 1660 Heavy Conversion Unit. He was a crew member of Lancaster I R5676 which took off from Swinderby on a training flight. The aircraft broke up in flight. Near Sturton by Stow.

Tony Hibberd reports that there is a memorial to the crew members at Lancaster Farm, Sturton by Stow, Lincolnshire, and has sent in the photos shown here. It features the silhouette of a Lancaster Bomber with red poppiles below, and a plaque underneath.

The plaque reads:
In rememberance (sic) of the aircrew of Lancaster
Bomber R5676 Squadron 1660 H.C.U. which
crashed on this farm 12th February 1943.
Tragically all lives were lost.
