In Ushaw Moor Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 1134877 Serjeant Thomas William Hutchinson serving with 20 Anti-Tank Regiment Royal Artillery who died 29/05/1945.

The headstone reads:-

beloved son of
Thomas and Louisa Hutchinson
who died May 29th 1945
at a Military Hospital Oxford
through wounds received in Germany
Aged 23 years
Also his brother
Cyril who died at sea March 25th 1941
aged 20 years
