He was born at St. Oswald’s Durham and was the Inn Keeper at the Queens Head, Durham City. He was Initiated on the 2nd October 1906; Passed 6th November 1906 and Raised on the 2nd April 1907. He enlisted at Durham and was killed in action on the 29th October 1918 aged 41. He is remembered on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial,West Vaalanderen Belgium, Panel 11.
