The following has been submitted by John Grainger:
David Ballantyne died at Netley Hospital on 7th December 1916. His body was returned to Spennymoor where on December 11th 1916 he was buried at Spennymoor (Tudhoe, York Hill Cemetery), the service conducted by Rev. W.M. Wykes. Ordinary grave D539 in consecrated ground. Burial register number 4502 where his occupation is recorded as soldier.
David Ballantyne is remembered at Spennymoor on S131.02, S131.11, and S131.16 and at Tudhoe Grange on T61.02
