In Shildon All Saints Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 986370 Flight Sergeant (Wireless Operator (Air)) William Forster serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 29/04/1945.

Son of Thomas and Ruth Forster; husband of Edith Forster, of Shildon.

The headstone reads:-

In loving memory of
Flt./Sgt. W.O./A.G. William
beloved husband of
Edith Forster
Killed in operations in England
April 29th 1945 aged 28 years

He has flown to eternal glory
