Lishman, W., Pte., 1918
In Premont British Cemetery, Aisne, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 76475 Private William Lishman serving with the 2nd Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 05/11/1918.

Son of John Robert and Elizabeth Lishman, of 2, Ritson's Rd., Blackhill, Co. Durham.

Paul Heatherington has submitted the following:-

William was born in Blackhill in the summer of 1897. He was the third son in a family of five boys. His brothers were named John, Hugh, Edward and Robert. Their father was John Robert Lishman, a joiner, their mother, Elizabeth (née Brown), born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

In 1911, the family were living at 20 John Street, Blackhill.

William enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers and served as a Private. He died of wounds on the 5th November 1918 and is buried at Premont British Cemetery.

William Lishman is remembered at Shotley Bridge on S27.03
