Hogg, T., Gnr., 1917
In Rocquigny-Equancourt Road British Cemetery Manancourt, Somme, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 134662Gunner Thomas Hogg serving with the "B" Battery 236th Brigade Royal Field Artillery who died 15/12/1917.

Thomas was born in Blackhill in the summer of 1891. He was the son of Thomas Hogg, a cart man from Northumberland, and Dorothy (née Stephenson), born in Blackhill. He was the sixth child in a family of ten. His siblings were Arthur, Clara, Dorothy, Charles, Anthony, Mary, Hannah, Annie and Robert.

In 1901, the family were living at 2 Ritsons Road. Thomas’ father died in 1902. In 1911, the family were living with Dorothy’s father, Anthony Stephenson, at 2 Queens Road. Thomas was working as a grocer’s apprentice.

In 1913, Thomas married his cousin, Honoria Maude Redpath, who was born in Seaton Sluice. Their son, Thomas, was born in 1914.

Thomas enlisted as a gunner in the Royal Horse and Royal Field Artillery. He died of wounds on the 15th December 1917 and is buried at Rocquigny-Equancourt Road British Cemetery in Menancourt.

Thomas’ wife Honoria died in 1920.

Thomas Hogg is remembered at Blackhill on B145.11 and at Shotley Bridge on S27.03
