Errington, G., Pte., 1918
In Pernes British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 50043 Private George Errington serving with the 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers who died 23/04/1918.

They miss him most who loved him best

Son of Joseph and Isabella Errington, of St. Cuthbert's Avenue, Blackhill, Co. Durham.

George was born in Blackhill in 1899. His father was Joseph Errington, from Rowley. His mother was Isabella (née Bates), from Consett. They were married in the summer of 1896. George had an older sister, Alys (born 16th August 1897), and a younger brother, Cecil.

In 1901, the family were living at 4 St Cuthbert’s Avenue. Joseph was a commercial clerk. They were still in the samehouse in 1911.

George enlisted in the Lancashire Fusiliers and served as a Private. He was just nineteen years old when he died, on the 23rd April 1918.

George’s sister Alys married Patrick John March on the 5th December 1926. In 1939 Patrick was a colliery under manager and they were living in Castle Ward, Northumberland. His brother Cecil, a clerk from 22 Green Street, Consett, set sail from Southampton to Wellington,New Zealand, on the 9th December 1927.

George Errington is remembered at Shotley Bridge on S27.01 and S27.03
