Hogan, J.W., 2nd Lieut., 1918
In Longuenesse (St. Omer) Souvenir Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Second Lieutenant John William Hogan, serving with the Royal Air Force who died 25/09/1918.

His parents were Edward and Jane Hogan, of Railway Terrace, Hamsteels.

He attended the R.C. Schools Newhouse, then was a student at Durham Johnston school. He afterwards became a Pupil Teacher at New House RC School.

John was a 2nd Lieutenant in the R.A.F., with 149 Squadron as an Observer Officer. He was commissioned 26th May 1918.

He was accidentally killed 25th September 1918.
