A sad accident occurred in Tubwell Row, Darlington, as the result of which Private Matthew F. Parker of the 3rd/6th Durham Light Infantry (Territorials) received fatal injuries Owing to the darkness he failed to notice the approach of a Corporation tram-car, which knocked him down. It was travelling at a fair speed and when the driver pulled up and assistance was procured it was found that the man's condition was hopeless. He leaves widow and family.
