In Jonkerbos War Cemetery, the Netherlands, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 941387 Flight Sergeant Arthur Brown, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 17/08/1941.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

F/Sgt. Brown was the rear gunner aboard Armstrong Whitworth Whitley V Z6754 of 78 Squadron, which was lost on a mission to Cologne. The Whitley was shot down by a Luftwaffe night fighter flown by Oblt. Hans-Dieter Frank, of I./NJG1, and crashed at 03.50 at Buggenum, Limburg, with the loss of all five crew members.

Whitley Z6754 EY-? had departed Middleton St. George at 2305 for Ops Cologne.

It was initially coned for 6 mins by Searchlight No 13 of 1/Flakscheinw Rgt 1 and Searchlight No 48 of 4/II Flakscheinw Rgt 1

It was subsequently intercepted 4km NNW of Roermond by a Night-Fighter captained by Nacht-Jagd “Experten” Hptm Werner Streib (Stab I/NJG1) and shot down at 0244 for his 21st Abschuss
