In St.John the Baptist Church is a plaque which reads:

To the Glory of God and in memory of
Colonel John Blencowe Cookson, C.B.
of Meldon Park,
Born 19th July 1843, died Feb. 4th 1910.
also Constance Jane, his wife,
Born 17th Dec. 1847, died Ap. 10th 1926.
This tablet was erected
by their children.
