Laying up of colours in St.James's Church
The Morpeth Herald 20/04/1923 reports to proposed laying up of the King's Colour presented to 2nd Line, 7th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. All the other colours from the Northumberland Fusiliers had been laid up in Newcastle Cathedral.
The 2nd Line was supposed to be used for supplying drafts to the 1st Line. But the 2nd Line instead was trained for active service in 63rd Division.
Very full details along these lines are given.
The Morpeth Herald 27/04/1923 gives very full details of the actual ceremony.
The colours were returned to the Regiment in 1948, which is reported in Morpeth Herald of 02/04/1948
