Gun trophies rejected
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 13/02/1919 reports:

"The Town Clerk read a letter received from the War Trophies Committee stating that they had decided, on the recommendation of the Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland, to offer the Corporation one German machine gun (damaged), one ammunition box, and one ammunition belt. The letter added that the cost of carriage must be borne by the consignee.
Mr. R.N. Swinney moved that they be not accepted. Mr. Armstrong, in seconding, said that the stores were not worth paying the carriage on, and the motion was carried."
