The Journal 21/11/2014 carries an article and photo of a display created by the children of Rockliffe First School to commemorate the start of the Great War, called Rockliffe Remembers. See the hyperlink below.
49 residents from the locality near the school. Poppies were made with a name on each and 49 pebbles were painted with flowers for the community garden outside the school.
Part of the school was used as a barracks by the Sherwood Foresters.
