The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 28/01/1919 reports:
"Memorial service at Tynemouth.
A special service of thanksgiving for the safe return of local prisoners of war will be held in Tynemouth Parish Church (Christ Church, North Shields) next Sunday evening. Invitations are being sent to some 200 men, but the list of returned prisoners is not complete, and some of those who have returned within the last few days may not receive invitations. It is hoped, however, that all will make a point of attending. Seats will be reserved and books provided."
