The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 01/01/1916 reports:
Unobscured Lights at North Shields.
For failing effectually to shade the lights on their premises, at North Shields, yesterday, Rose Murray, of Barnes Bank was fined 5s.; Robert Bone, of 11 Bedford Street (second offence) 20s.; Sergeant Richard Wilkinson, No.7 Company, 3rd Battalion, West Riding Regiment, stationed at the Grand Hotel, Tynemouth, 20s.; and Margaret Stephenson, of Fountain Head, Bedford Street, North Shields, 6s.
