HAYDON BRIDGE

Haydon Bridge Brass Band
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 12/05/1919 reports:
"On Saturday the members of the Haydon Bridge Brass Band held their first meeting since 1914 to consider the question of recommencing their practice meetings. Some fact very creditable to the band were disclosed in the course of the discussion. Twenty-two of its members joined the fighting forces early in the war. Of these no fewer than five were killed (Messrs. J. Armstrong, J. Brown, C. Law, F. McGurk and L. Spark) and four were wounded (Messrs. J. Fielding, J. Gray, J. Irving and J. Spark). A resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the fallen soldiers was passed. Practices will be resumed at once.
