Wreck of Heinkel, 1940
In the Aviation Museum, Bamburgh Castle, is a relic of Heinkel He.111 H-4 1H+GH 1/KG26 which was shot down over Druridge Bay on 15th August 1940. The crew, who were all made prisoners of war, were:
Uffz. Willi Zimmerman;
Oblt. Rudolf Roch;
Gfr. Erwin Kulick;
Alwin Machalett;
Ernst Henrichson.
