Rejection of military trophies
The Illustrated Chronicle 6th Sept. 1920 shows photos of three guns donated to Alnmouth by 11th Northumberland Fusiliers which had been deliberately destroyed.









... this one ditched half a mile from its site....










. . . .and this one, on the rocks, wrecked.


Many men who returned from the war did not like these trophies as they had been used to kill their mates.
