"The Bishop of Newcastle states that the mansion "Pendower" and its grounds belong to Newcastle Council, and wishes the lovely grounds and their trees could be turned into a "War Memorial Park" instead of being used to build houses" This was never implemented. The building became a Teacher Training Centre.
