Northern Counties Club meeting 1922
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 27/06/1922 reports:

“At the annual meeting of the Northern Counties Club in London, Mr. F. Challoner was in the chair. The Duke of Northumberland is president of the club, whose members are natives of or connected with any of the six Northern Counties.”

The last general meeting to take place was in June 1914. The club had been founded in 1891 when the late Duke of Northumberland was vice-president, he later became the second president until his sudden death in 1918.

“In June 1917, the club extended to officers of Regiments of the six Northern Counties, and to officers of the Navy connected with these counties, membership for the period of the war on payment of two guineas per annum, and honoray membership to officers serving abroad during leave at home.”

Of the members, the following had been killed in action:

Mr. Waddilove;
Cartledge, C.A.;
Challoner, C.A.;
Davis, Wilfrid, Captain;
Davis, Guy, brother to Wilfrid;
Pyman, J., Captain;
Mewman, S.W.R., Captain
