Collins The plaque was a standard design by the North East Mining Industry and was given to those from the north-east who served and/or fell.

The Roll of Honour of the St.Lawrence’s Catholic Young Men’s Society contained 62 names, of whom many had served from beginning to end.

The Society had maintained a line of communication between the home front and the battle front, along which 12,000 letters had been received from the men at the front.
