"At the Y.M.C.A. in the Orthopaedic Centre Grounds, Queen Victoria Rd., Newcastle, a tablet is to be unveiled by Leit. General Sir Kerr Montgomery, to commemorate services rendered in connection with the hut by the lady handicraft workers in the Northumberland War Hiosopital, Gosforth."

Northern Echo 29/06/1921

Mr. Henry Armstrong, the general secretary of the Y.M.C.A. explained that it had been possible to re-erect the hut in which they met through the generosity of the lady handicraft workers of the Northumberland War Hospital, who had handed over a balance of their funds amounting to £822.18s. Although the receipts for the year ended May 1921, amounted to £1,803 19s 9d, there was nevertheless a deficit of £376.

Unveiling the tablet, Sir R.A. Kerr Montgomery said he always looked upon war memorials as something more than memorials to those whose names were inscribed thereon. He liked to look upon them as an education for the future. That particular tablet, he felt sure, would remind those to come of what the women of England did during the war."
