In April 1919 the Newcastle Weekly Chronicle reported:
"The offer of a tank to the town of Sunderland was mentioned by the Town Clerk at Wednesday's Council meeting, but the Council agreed to accept only the tank which, during a recent offensive was manned by Sunderland men and which was instrumental in silencing a German machine gun and anti-tank gun section which had brought havoc amongst the tank section, thus permitting of the continuance of the offensive".
