Employees Welcome Home 1919
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 05/06/1919 reports:

Welcome Home at Heworth.
The employees of Messrs. Hoyle, Robson, Barnett & Co., who have served with the forces during the war, were given a welcome home by the directors of the firm in the Heworth Council School last evening. Altogether about 30 employees of the firm have been on active service, six of whom have paid the supreme sacrifice, and some are still serving.

The proceedings commenced with a tea, to which a large company sat down. Amongst those present were Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Barnett, Capt., and Mrs. F.P. Barnett, Mr. Selby Wood (managing director), Mr. Aldridge (secretary), Mr. Shaw Fawcett (sales manager), Mr. Reed (works manager) and Mrs. reed, and Mr. S.J. Keetch, representing the London office of the firm.

During an interval in the proceedings, Mr. E.G. Barnett, chairman, presented each of the returned soldiers with a suitable commemorative gift on behalf of the directors. A whist drive and dance followed."
