The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 14/04/1920 reports:

Presentations at Blaydon.

At a concert held in the Church Hall, Blaydon, last night, presentations were made to T.S. Urwin, M.M. and A. Kirsop, T. Summersides and C.B. Boyce, who have been awarded Meritorious Service medals in recognition of the military honours gained by them. Mr. Rutter Carr presided, and stated that fifty-four watches have now been presented to Blaydon men who had secured military distinctions. From the town of Blaydon 1,500 men took part in the war, and gold medals had been presented to 1,300. To the relatives of the fallen gold medals had been given, accompanied by a letter of sympathy. Mrs. H.R. McAleenan made the presentations in the course of a few well chosen remarks. A programme of music was rendered by Miss Isabell Browell, Mrs. Thomas Lawson, Mr. J.M. Jones and Mr. A. Watson.
