Thanks for comforts
The Blaydon Courier 15/02/1919 reports:

Consett and District Ladies’ Working Party.
War Comforts.
"Letters of thanks and appreciation for parcels received have been sent to the hon. secretary by the following solders:

Pte. Jas. Draffan;
Pte. Alf. Bell;
Pte. M.R. Marshall;
Pte. F.G. Bowe;
Pte. Armstrong;
Pte. T. Scott;
Pte. J. Jeffery;
Pte. W. Robson.
Also a letter of thanks has been received from the Quartermaster-in-Charge, Benfieldside House Hospital, in acknowledgment of parcel containing 2 dozen pairs socks. 1½ handkerchiefs, and cigarettes, for the use of patients.”
